Defense Attorney Laura Solinger has dedicated her entire legal career to fighting for those who have been arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned.
All Felonies and Misdemeanors
Direct Appeals
Post-conviction Relief
Civil Rights
For over 30 years, Ms. Solinger has zealously represented thousands of people charged with crimes in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island. She is a tough negotiator as well as an excellent courtroom lawyer, winning not guilty verdicts in most of her trials. From the moment of your arrest, she is in your corner, fighting for you.
Ms. Solinger also does appeals and civil rights litigation; through her relentless advocacy on behalf of her clients, among other wins, she has freed three men from life sentences.
George McGuire, who was sentenced to 60 years-to-life in prison at the age of 21, leaving Auburn Correctional Facility after Ms. Solinger filed State and Federal post-conviction motions and got his sentence reduced to 22 years, which was time served.
Rudolph Bisnauth after walking out of Downstate Correctional Facility in October of 2020. Ms. Solinger succeeded via a CPL § 440 motion in getting his sentence of 25 years-to-life reduced to 13 years, or time served.
Shawn Lawrence celebrating the overturning of his homicide conviction and life sentence and the complete dismissal of the indictment. Ms. Solinger also brought a federal lawsuit against Suffolk County for that wrongful conviction, and reached a very favorable out-of-court settlement for Mr. Lawrence.
Gregory Jackson was sentenced as a persistent predicate felony offender to 45 years-to-life for two burglaries in 2000, making him eligible for parole in 2045. He hired Ms. Solinger in 2021, and in December of 2023, the Court, with the DA’s consent, reduced Mr. Jackson’s sentence to 25 years-to-life, making him eligible for parole in a little more than a year.

Testimonials
I literally cannot say enough good things about Ms. Solinger. I chose her to represent me not only because of her years of experience and professionalism, but, more importantly, she counsels with heart. As I have never found myself in trouble with the law, when I was looking for legal representation she was the only person who spoke to me as a person rather than a number. Ms. Solinger helped me not have a criminal record. Even after my case ended, I was still able to call upon her with follow up questions and guidance. I am eternally grateful for everything she’s done for me. I highly recommend Ms. Solinger to anyone in need of an accomplished and caring attorney. Mr. F.
Dear Ms. Solinger,
. . .I just wanted you to know that you are the one I consider brave and good. People say a lot of things about lawyers that they don’t care and all they do is chase money. But you prove those sayings to be nothing but myths. I pray that you never change the person you are and you remain a champion of justice . . . It was a pleasure to have known you.
Respectfully, Craig T.
Dear Laura,
I want to thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart for all your time and work that you put in to my case and you should be proud of the talent that you have. Thank you Laura!
Sincerely, Jimmy
Dear Laura,
Thank God for you. I truly believe my husband would still be in jail if it were not for you. We went through so many attorneys and challenges and was finally blessed to have you on his case. You heard us out when no one else would and left no stone unturned. And with all the hard work and dedication you put in, you were able to bring him home. You were not afraid to stand up for the misjustices of the case no matter what the outcome was. You are more than just a lawyer to your clients because you show compassion and dedication in your representation and beyond. You truly care about True Justice and there are a lot of lawyers that could learn from you. Your cases are not just another case to you, you take your time to see the issues and execute them to the fullest. God truly does put good people in your path for a reason. You gave us hope when there looked like there was no hope and you never gave up. You will be forever blessed for the person you are. I do not think I will ever be able to express my gratitude and love for you!

Dear Laura,
I am in receipt of your traverse, what a perfect job you did! Our main arguments were made stronger, and the counter-arguments were a stroke of genius! I was smiling the whole time as I read it. There was not a dry or weak spot anywhere. You knocked the ball out of the park! Thank you again. I know I thank you all the time, and you must know my gratitude is sincere, but I can’t thank you enough for dedicating your time, energy and expertise to my case. You are truly a godsend.
Sincerely, George McGuire
